Annapolis, MD
Wow, we did a lot of work today getting the boat together. There is still a bunch of stuff needing to be stowed, but since the weather seems as if it will be very tame, we’ll get to that after we are underway. For now, we just have to make sure the leak in the inflatable dingy is fixed and that the outboard for it is operational and we are all set.
I awoke around 8:00 am EST and found Pat on deck already at it. I hopped into action and started with the roller furling – the device at the bow which rolls (or furls) the head sail. After that, we were able to restretch the dodger over it’s frame to give us some shade. After three years in storage, it had shrank a lot. The I finished installing the Cape Horn wind vane and tuned the rig. Pat repaired the bilge pump and the pressure water system. A lot of things we didn’t think we were going to get to got done. It was a long day, but we feel pretty good about being ready for the trip.
We just got back from provisioning. I haven’t provisioned a boat in such a long time, I had no idea what to get. Beer was on the list. After $240 worth groceries, I’m pretty sure we’ve over done it. At least if we get pushed out to Bermuda, we’ll have food.
Time to turn in. We’ll need to be up and at it early to make it all the way to Chesapeake City. We still have a couple of issues to sort out before shoving off. Until next time.
