As previously posted, I’ve been collecting pieces and parts for my upgraded navigation set up. Most of the old gauges and dials on board are old and outdated; some don’t even work. But, many of the transducers in the hull are still fine, so it’s simply a matter of adding a few minor interfaces and […]
Update 2
Here’s Update Part 2 of the move and preparations for refit: Just received a text from my hauler. He will be down next week to collect the boat and take it to California. Also, the Frenchmen came through and pushed my new mast headwind vane through customs. It was on my doorstep last night. This […]
Update
Update on the transport: looks like the hauler will pick up/deliver around the middle of September. That may leave me with some logistical issues with the launch and getting the boat 2 miles down the channel and into it’s slip, but I always seem to manage, so I’m not to worried. They Say When the Time is Right….
They say when the time is right, you’ll know it. Well, I’m there. It’s been almost exactly six years since I dry docked Nereus. Six years in the heat and humidity of central Alabama. I’d be dishonest if I didn’t say I am ashamed of myself and of what I’ve let happen to my beloved […]
Too Many Days at Sea?
I caught this little ditty online and thought I’d share. Makes me wonder what the guy is thinking, as I find myself screaming at my monitor, “REVERSE, YOU DUMB-ASS!!! THE BRIDGE IS COMING DOWN!!!”
Getting Motivated
Heading out to see ol’ Nereus in Alabama. Kind of nervous, as things were pretty bad last time I was there – three years ago! Was planning to wait until fall to beat the heat, but now, during the hottest part of the season, a window of opportunity has opened, so I’m going. Getting motivated. […]
Back in Annapolis
Update: We are back in Annapolis, MD. After a long run with difficult conditions, we sailed all the way down the Chesapeake when the engine developed a fuel delivery problem. With wind on the nose and more than 50 nautical miles to go, we made the call to turn and sail back to Annapolis for […]
Cool
Cruise ship headed down the bay.
Now We’re Sailing!
Southbound, close hauled, making 6 knots – in the right direction even! Just passed this freighter, which is inbound on the Chesapeake.
Underway
We got underway this morning and we at the line for the official start if the rally at 0900. Overcast with light winds (from the direction we want to go of course). Two hours into it and we are having a great time!!! Bing blowing bubbles on deck.
