Boat is really coming along nicely. We will begin putting deck hardware back on next trip. Of course, the deck lights I wired up on the spreaders really extends our working time!

Food!!!
I’ve gone without an open flame grill since we mothballed Nereus back in 2007. Tonight, we fired up the old Magma BBQ with some rib eye steaks we bought at Sprouts in San Pedro. Our Magma Marine Kettle has been used and abused. The regulator is shot, the flame screen had holes in it and […]
It’s Only Money
Is it possible I spend too much time & money at West Marine? I had a stacck of WestAdvantage Reward coupons, so I went in there and bought some stuff. Tab came to $73 (pretty cheap for West Marine, I’d say). I handed the cashier my coupons and she asked for $3. Really? I had […]
My View Today
Finally. After climbing to the top of the mast at least a half a dozen times, we are wired and finished at the masthead. Just have to finish at the spreaders, but that’s only half way up and there’s a place to sit. One more day and the mast is done! I’m amazed at how […]
The Best Part of Waking Up
For as much of a technologist as I am, with hi-tech gadgets being so pervasive in my life and work, there’s nothing I enjoy more than making a hand-crafted cup of coffee aboard my old-fashioned, manually operated sailboat! Good morning — life is great!
Exercise in Futility

The Update
Almost two weeks too late, but here’s the update as promised: Mast is in the air! Sailing will be just around the corner.
Big weekend?
Long day: too six hours to get here, due to stops and some stupidity on my part (missed a turn). Such a day, I wanted to get cheeseburgers, but the first mate just wanted to go “home.” So here I am, slaving away in the galley. But it’s ok; I have wine. Hope to have […]
Found in the boat – galley
Found these from Binga’s prime cruising days – as in, when she was two! Compared to regular fork she uses now, for scale.
First Meal!!
First meal aboard in 7 years. Not Gourmet by any stretch, but who cares! Let’s eat!!!
